About the work:

In these “video-studies” typical monotonous household work is being done. The visual aestethics is inspired by documentary photography and film. These videos are part of a new series reflecting domestic work seen from a “slightly” dramatical aspect. 

The 2 videos proposed are part of a larger series containing both sculptural objects and video. 

synopsis of Nainen Työssä 1 & 2 / woman at work 1 & 2

A (cleaning) woman  vacuums a window standing on a ladder.In sequence 2 she has dissappeared, the only thing left is the sound of the vacuum cleaner. in the last sequence she is on the floor. having a nap or dead?

In part 2 the same (cleaning) woman irons undergarmnet in a cellar room. there is a factory like noise in the background. She opens the window and looks out for a second. a man walks by in the distance. She continues working for a while and then she climbs out of the window.
